Vail-Rita Ranch Faith Connections Invites You To
Experience Disciple Bible Study
Pastor Billy Still is offering a
16-week Bible study at Cottonwood Elementary School. The class will be
taught in two eight-week sessions: Disciple I: Invitation to the Old
Testament, and Disciple II: Invitation to the New Testament.
Sessions will be two hours each week beginning at 5:30 PM., and will
involve video, discussion and homework. A meal will be offered at the
beginning of class, and there will be child care for those who need it.
The class is open to people with all levels of religious and biblical
experience, and prospective participants are encouraged to consider the
expectations for the class before making a commitment. The cost per
person for both sessions is $40.00, which includes two workbooks and a
meal fee. Scholarships are always available, so please ask if you should
need some financial assistance!
To sign up for the class, or for more information, please e-mail Nancy
Goforth at
magoforth60@earthlink.net, or call 290-6454.
Descriptions of each Disciple class can be found below, and you can also
log on to www.cokesbury.com to download a sample lesson. This is
suggested, as it will give potential class members an idea of the format
and type of homework involved. Don’t let this wonderful opportunity pass
you by—a chance to learn more about the Bible close to home with fun,
enthusiastic people and fantastic leadership. We hope to hear from you
soon!
The Disciple I study will help participants gain a deeper
understanding and appreciation of the Old Testament as an integral part
of the Christian Bible and a renewed discovery of their identity in God,
and God’s vision for all things.
The Disciple II study will explore the writings of the New
Testament using the story of Jesus as the starting point, and help
participants discover how the early church took ownership of, and was
shaped by the story of Jesus, and how the church learned to develop
disciples and create communities of faith. |
